- Storage Facility / Warehouse
Scope Of Work
GAB Operations, LLC, a Mexico-based provider of fresh vegetables and fruits, partnered with A M King to design and build a distribution center in Laredo, TX. The new 45,590-sf facility will provide increased cold storage capacity for fresh produce and serve as the hub for GAB’s U.S. and Canadian customers.
During the design phase, our team worked with the Owner to ensure the layout met current and future needs, including the addition of a forced air cooler that can bring down the temperature of the produce quickly and safely.
The project also features a large open area with manager offices around the perimeter to allow for social distancing. The open office area will have high ceilings, open workspaces for collaboration and full lite glazed doors. In addition, dock employees have their own training/break room, lockers and toilets.
Truck drivers can utilize a dormitory for resting before continuing their routes that includes a lounge, shower/toilet area and two exterior doors to help create a single flow through the space.
The exterior of the warehouse will be constructed using Insulated Metal Panel (IMP) while the new office section will utilize an EIFS/Stucco finish and a decorative metal accent panel. The project is scheduled to be complete in October 2021.
A M King has recently completed a 262,000-sf avocado ripening, processing facility and distribution center for Mission Produce located directly across the street from GAB’s facility.
