Gary earned his Bachelor and Master of Architecture from the University of Wisconsin. After graduating in 1975, he worked in Milwaukee for Architects III and for the design/ build firm of Schallock Petersen and Associates. Upon receiving his architectural license from the State of Wisconsin in 1977, Gary accepted a career advancement as an architect/ construction manager with Torke/Wirth/Pujara, Ltd. He also taught at The Milwaukee School of Engineering from 1976 to 1979.
Because of his increasing interest in real estate and development, Gary relocated to California in 1981 and accepted the position of property/construction manager for Pacific Intermountain Express (PIE). His responsibilities included property development, planning, design, construction management and administration for their offices and terminals throughout the country. Gary became a project manager for Mervyn’s in 1983, handling new store development andconstruction in the western United States. At that time he also received his architectural license from the State of California. Ross Stores, Inc. offered Gary the position of construction manager in 1984. He built over 50 stores and utilized his fast-track construction experience on many projects including four, 75 calendar-day new construction projects and two, 23 calendar-day remodeling projects. All of the projects were completed on time.
In 1984 Gary acquired his California general contractor’s license. He formed GH GROUP, INC. in January 1987. Gary’s broad background and experience in architecture and construction provide GH GROUP with strong leadership. Not only does he understand the professional and management end of construction, but also he is able to integrate finishes, detailing and other technical aspects of the construction business.
