Scope Of Work
Bringing a theater from old and worn back to its early days is not an easy task for anyone. Finishing it off beautifully and early is even more difficult. Big-D took on the challenge and the end product was a triumph of teamwork and craftsmanship. The auditorium’s floor area was raised to obtain better sight angles for the 950 seats. A new chair layout was also created to improve sight lines. All of the chair lighting, aisle lighting and HVAC were reconfigured to accommodate the new layout. And to give it a special touch, new laminate flooring and special order carpet were installed over what used to be epoxy painted concrete floor.
Kingsbury Hall was built in 1929 and named after Joseph Kings-bury, who was president of the University of Utah from 1897 to 1916. For years, the theater was the only real performing arts house in the Salt Lake Valley.
