Scope Of Work
As construction manager, and working under a negotiated contract, Moss rebuilt the entire exterior curtain wall system of this 15-story office tower located in downtown Fort Lauderdale as part of an emergency relief program following Hurricane Wilma. In order to keep the School Board of Broward County’s administrative staff, the facility’s primary tenant, in full operation while construction took place, field crews mobilized the site within two days following the storm and then temporarily boarded the broken windows on the west side of the tower in just 11 days. To protect against additional damage from wind and water intrusion, the building was sealed with a peel-and-stick roofing membrane. Once secure, Moss staff installed a new hurricane impact glazing system, upgraded all curtain wall connections and added a skylight at the building’s main entry.
This process required careful coordination and communication with the owner, subcontractors and city building officials and inspectors to ensure a timely and cost effective completion. Since this first assignment, Moss has been commissioned to provide construction management services on 11 school projects located throughout Broward County by this prestigious South Florida school board.
