Scope Of Work
This Biomedical Research Center, designed to LEED Silver standards, sits at the core of the University of Miami’s medical campus at Jackson Memorial Hospital. When complete in Fall 2008, it will consist of 100,928 SF of lab and 64,709 SF of office space. Its 10 story structure will include all of the critical components typically incorporated in world-class research centers, except here they are all found under one roof. The facility will feature 20,000 SF of Vivarium space for both large and small animals, a Class 10,000 cGMP manufacturing lab, BSL II Wet labs, a 20,000 lb bulk sterilizer, a -80 degree freezer farm, case wash quarantines, instrument rooms, an imaging suite with MRI, C/T and Catherization Lab, flexible office space and a conference center. The roof level and mezzanine includes high induction lab exhaust fans, custom air handling units, energy recover units, central air compressors and vacuum, and a dedicated air system for the cGMP lab.
As construction manager, Moss is constructing all work within a densely populated urban community while maintaining full operations of existing hospitals and medical buildings. The assignment represents one of 7 projects exceeding $264 million that key Moss executives have built for this owner over the past 10 years.
