Carter’s Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant

Project Information

Project Location:
College Station, TX
Status:
Completed - Jan 2019
Structure Type:
Sewage / Water Treatment Plant

Scope Of Work

The Carter’s Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant is one of two plants serving nearly 117,000 residents in the College Station community. The plant’s motor control centers (MCC) were more than 30 years old – making it difficult to find parts to repair the degrading components.

SERVICE DETAILS

Our team designed electrical upgrades for the replacement of two switch gears and five MCCs. The new MCCs were installed with canopies to reduce internal heat and help extend the components’ life. We also installed a fiber-optic network to connect controls for the new equipment to the existing plant’s SCADA system.

4,500 linear feet of replacement duct bank were also designed – requiring our team to work around old, existing underground utilities. Duct bank mapping was performed to limit potential risks that could delay construction. We also developed a thorough sequencing plan to ensure the plant remained operational while all components were being replaced.
