Scope Of Work
Development in the area was causing strain on Stewart Creek, with one of the banks and a wastewater line experiencing significant erosion issues. The stream was also narrowing in some areas, causing increased velocities and further erosion in localized areas. The City of Frisco wanted a temporary low-capital cost solution they could build utilizing their in-house field crews and equipment that would help Stewart Creek regain its natural equilibrium.
SERVICE DETAILS
Our team analyzed the creek and recommended the city reinforce, stabilize, and re-grade the banks with bendway weirs built out of recycled Christmas trees. The trees were stacked on top of each other strategically to redirect and reduce streamflow velocity along the banks to help prevent future erosion and allow sediment to accumulate and re-form the banks. The levees and branches also allow for the creation of sustainable ecosystems along the new bank.
The project reduced material and installation costs and landfill waste by recycling available materials.
