Our Story
In 1985 Lonia and Dave Maxwell launched a new construction company, based on total client focus, uncompromising quality, impeccable ethics and responsible financial management. Those standards propelled Maxwell into one of the state’s top privately-owned construction companies, providing general contracting services to retail, commercial, office, medical and multi-family markets. The Maxwell organization is led by the Maxwell Group that guides two wholly-owned subsidiaries: Maxwell Builders concentrates on retail and commercial projects, while Maxwell Construction has focused on the multi-family market.
From the company’s beginnings to the present, Maxwell carved out a deep niche of repeat business with leading retailers such as Sears and JC Penney. Early in the company’s relationship with Sears, Maxwell was selected to build the first Great Indoors project, establishing the prototype that would be developed by Sears across the country. Since then, Maxwell has grown into one of the premier remodeling contractors for both Sears and JC Penney, renovating tens of millions of square feet over the past 29 years and setting the standard for open-store, phased remodels.
The operating principles of Maxwell are one of the best indicators of the business philosophy of the company. We realize that ours is a service industry and that our professionalism, craftsmanship and dependability must be of the best in the industry to remain successful. Our employees recognize the crucial importance of deadlines and budgets and take great pride in meeting the challenge of balancing aesthetics with utility, meeting critical schedules, cost effectively maximizing value and surpassing client expectations.
