Scope Of Work
The Mount Prospect Police Station project is a new 90,000 square foot, state-of-the-art police station created through the adaptive reuse conversion of an existing and former manufacturing and warehousing building that celebrated its grand opening in June of 2020. The station occupies a 5.5-acre site inside a business park and adjacent to a major community thoroughfare.
Although technically an adaptive reuse project, the extent of work involved essentially makes this a ‘new” facility. The work includes completely new energy efficient HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems and a completely new floor plan constructed to accommodate the specific operational and functional needs of the Mount Prospect Police Department along with a complete new exterior skin and a significant addition to create a new main entry. This station will serve the Village’s needs for over fifty years with features such as flexible space and easily accessible wiring raceway for future technology needs.
The new station includes a an inviting public lobby, community room for the public’s use, records area, soft interview spaces, report rooms, drive-thru and secure sally port, modern and safer booking and detention with eight holding areas, line-up room, hard interview rooms, an open configuration firing range, armory, indoor parking for 52 village vehicles, padded training room for de-escalation training, evidence processing and storage, evidence garage, defense training room, state of the art fitness center, records, and complete office and support areas for investigations, command staff, cyber-crimes, crime prevention, patrol areas, roll-call, locker facilities, full emergency power and the complete complement of ancillary and other support spaces.
