Scope Of Work
Having experienced exponential growth over the last 4 years, flourishing from the 24th largest hospital in the country to the 5th largest, Mary Free Bed is expanding into Eastern Michigan via a partnership with Saginaw’s Covenant HealthCare.
Plans include a new 3-story structure of mixed clinical use constructed on Covenant’s campus. The 1st floor will house substantial outpatient physical therapy services and engineering infrastructure, while the 2nd and 3rd floors will house inpatient services with 30 beds on each floor (60 total). Twelve of which will be shelled.
Noteworthy spaces on the 1st floor include a center courtyard, semi-custom therapy pool, large gym spaces, clinics, food services provided by Covenant, an orthotics/ prosthetics shop, and staff spaces. The 2nd & 3rd floors will be similar with floor to floor heights of 15’.
A 12,000sf therapy roof deck above the 1st floor is planned with hardscape and landscaping in planters, as well as sections of green roof.
The building will be structural steel. Hydronic boilers for heat and semi-custom rooftop AHU’s with air cooled condensers will be the baseline for HVAC systems. A new domestic water booster pump will be required along with a fire pump, while oxygen needs will be served by
connections to the existing Covenant HealthCare facility.
