Scope Of Work
When national retailer Best Buy made the 2012 decision to extensively make over the computer and tablet department in more than 1,000 individual stores, H.J. Martin and Son was one of several companies tabbed to execute the fast-track project. Over just a four-and-a-half week period in November of that year, the aggressive overhaul of a pivotal electronics display area was transformed in time for the holiday shopping season, with much of the work being done at night while the stores were closed. Best Buy, which posted almost $50 billion in annual revenue for fiscal 2013, has approximately 600 million in-store shoppers visit its 1,400 locations in the United States each year. H.J. Martin and Son's first work on behalf of Best Buy occurred in July 1988, when the company installed a new "Answer Center" in all 20 Best Buy locations at the time; from this project, the Fixtures Division of H.J. Martin and Son was born.
Project Details
Work was completed by H.J. Martin and Son at 162 Best Buy stores in the Midwest and on the West Coast during November 2012.
Seventy H.J. Martin and Son staff members simultaneously were dedicated to the project, with each store being completed over a 1-2 night period.
H.J. Martin and Son partnered with Groom Construction of Salem, Mass., which oversaw the entire, 1,000-plus stores project.
