Mark Reid's Bio
Mark directs the day-to-day activities of the firm and works closely with the project teams to insure that IDEA provides superior solutions, service and value to each client on every project. He follows the progress of each project through weekly project meetings and regular site visits, and provides management support throughout the project.
With 30 years of construction related experience, Mark began his career in corporate facilities at Texas Instruments. After several successful years at TI, he worked briefly at Northern Telecom and DSC. In 1985, Mark formed Interspace Design Engineering Associates and began providing single source design, engineering, and construction services. In 1992 the name was changed to IDEA Construction as the company’s work shifted towards more new construction.
A graduate of Texas Tech University, Mark has a degree in Industrial Engineering. His student activities included leadership positions in the student chapter of the American Institute of Architects, two years as president of the Engineering Student council and Senator from the College of Engineering. He was twice recognized in Who’s Who in American Universities and Colleges and was the recipient of the Will Rogers Award, awarded annually to one individual at Texas Tech University.
A member of Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Mark has served as a greeter, an usher, and a sound technician. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Chairman of the Christian Life Center Board, Chairman of the Education Building Construction Committee, on the board of the Child Development Center and as a member of the Executive Committee. He has also coached youth basketball, worked with the Men’s Service Group, and worked on the church’s House on the Corner projects.
He is very active in Quoin (The North Texas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America) having served on the Information Technology committee and the AIA/AGC Joint Liaison Committee. He is a graduate of Quoin’s Dallas Leadership Executive Training program and serves on Quoin’s Board of Directors. He is past chair of Quoin’s Education and Research Foundation.
Mark also served on and chaired the Industrial Advisory Board for the College of Engineering at Texas Tech University and currently serves on the College of Engineering Dean’s Council.

Jim Ruff's Bio
Jim joined IDEA’s team in 1998 and is responsible for sales and estimating activities, and coordinating efforts to make sure the clients’ needs are fully understood. Early involvement with other members of the project team allows Jim to use his extensive and varied experience in conceptual estimating to accurately develop budgetary information while the project is in very preliminary design stages. This information becomes critical for making informed decisions.
Bringing well over 35 years of professional experience in the construction industry, Jim has experience on a wide variety of new construction, industrial, and facility projects and tenant finish work. He specializes in difficult, often “one of a kind” projects, renovations, and historical projects. Jim is a graduate of Kansas State University. He has a Bachelor degree in Architecture and Building Construction.
An active participant over the years with the Dallas Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), Jim has served on numerous committees, chairing three. He has taught and developed continuing education courses sponsored by the Dallas AGC and the Dallas County Community College District.
Jim’s community service includes over thirty seasons of coaching youth soccer and baseball, serving as League Director for both sports and has been involved with scouting activities from Assistant Club Master to summer camp volunteer.

Danny Chasney's Bio
Danny is responsible for the overall direction and successful completion of all projects. He directs and supervises the work of the project managers, establishes operational priorities, and maintains satisfactory relationships with the project team members. He works daily to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with the contract documents, are completed on time, within budget, and that a positive relationship is maintained with our clients.
With over 30 years of experience in the Dallas construction market, Danny began his career as a carpenter completing four years of carpenter apprenticeship training. He continued to learn several other trades including concrete, drywall, millwork and structural steel. He advanced to foreman followed by superintendent where he worked on several multi-story buildings in the Dallas area.
Danny joined IDEA Construction in 1991 as a superintendent and successfully completed several interior renovation and finish-out projects. He quickly assumed responsibility for the direct supervision of IDEA’s field resources, where his leadership contributed significantly to the growth of the company. As V.P. of Operations he is responsible for all projects, coordinating the activities of project management and superintendent staff. Danny is involved daily with IDEA’s projects providing the oversight, support and direction necessary to insure the successful completion of all projects.
An Eagle Scout, Danny has been a leader with his son’s Boy Scout program and school athletic booster program and serves in a leadership position. He also enjoys automobile restoration with his son. Danny is active with the Quoin chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America and has completed the OSHA Construction Site Safety Training program and is a recent graduate of the AGC’s Dallas Leadership Executive Training program.
