Our Story
The late 90’s marked the beginning of several disruptive technological and social forces. Among them, commercial and consumer broadband, wireless, and social networking all continue to impact how companies and people engage with each other.
It also marked the founding of Apex. Our founder knew that the commercial furnishings and moving market didn’t need another brawny guy with a box truck—a good thing, because our founder, Marlaine McCauley, is a woman. She saw the widening gap between what traditional moving and facilities management service companies were offering and the increasingly complex and interconnected services that contemporary organizations needed.
Demographic trends have changed the work force. Companies have redefined what a traditional office looks like and how it functions. Even the definition of what it means to “come to work” has changed, culminating in the nature of work itself being forever altered.
Experience the benefits of a multi-line dealer with access to a wide-spectrum of brands that can customize your furniture solutions.
Because Apex isn’t contracted with a specific manufacturer, we are free to recommend a variety of solutions to any given space – or budgetary – requirement. You never have to worry that we’re pushing a specific brand to meet a sales quota.
Plan. Furnish. Move. Manage.
Planning with a point-of-view.
The need to plan isn’t specific to an office move—it applies to all aspects of today’s facilities management. Speed, streamlined processes, foresight, and experience all contribute to creating an effective plan for any situation. We account for the predictable and the unpredictable. We know the speed of change – in technology, the markets, or the competitive landscape – is unrelenting. So we plan for it.
As partners, we want to understand the growth trajectory of your company and future space needs; we’ll assist with permitting procedures, data security, furniture—whatever it takes to help you minimize downtime and inefficiencies so that you can focus on your business.
The right solution is more important than an expensive chair.
As advocates for our clients, Apex has always taken a “solutions first” approach. It’s part of the reason why we don’t engage with manufacturers on an exclusive basis. We want to have access to the widest range of solutions to support our clients’ needs. Different brands have different strengths, price-points and ideal use-cases.
We offer a full range of workspace products, including office furnishings, ergonomic accessories, architectural products, office seating and storage solutions. Our focus always is to deliver the most flexible and nimble workspace for our clients, one that can respond and adapt to the inevitable changes that every business encounters.
Moving is exciting — we’ll help you contain it.
Big or small, upstairs or across the hall – no matter the size, scope or reason for your move, it’s a chance to shake the proverbial Etch-a-Sketch. It’s an opportunity to create something new – in your people, your culture, and your industry. Apex can help you capture it.
An Apex-orchestrated move minimizes the chaos, disruption and lost productivity that can occur when the pre-move plan or the post-move punch lists aren’t handled properly, not to mention the move itself. We’re known for our flawless service delivery and streamlined process, executed by our highly trained professionals.
The Vice President of "everything else."
That pretty much describes the role of today’s facilities managers. Twenty-first century workplaces are a complex web of interconnected systems. They encompass the physical buildings, the spaces within, and the underlying technologies that make them tick. Just as important are the people using the space and doing the work. Their physical and emotional needs, and by extension, the company culture as a whole, must be taken into consideration. It’s a lot to manage.
As with any ecosystem, predicting and managing the patterns – the ebb and flow of disparate projects, new people, relocations, re-orgs, new technologies and more – is a tricky business. The most adept facilities managers can recognize the early warning signals and what they foretell. But averting crises, or at least tamping them down, requires diverse skills backed up with multiple contingency plans.
