Scope Of Work
MYC completed the renovation of a two-story former bank building at 5590 W. Evans Ave. as the new home of Denver Public Schools’ Summit Academy. This alternative high school is unique in its mission to embrace ALL students with diverse academic and social experiences and to provide a focus on community contribution in a family-oriented environment. The project included a nearly complete gutting of the interior bank and office spaces, including demolition of a massive fully reinforced concrete vault. New domestic water and fire services were brought into the building and the updated mechanical plan included a blend of new and refurbished air handling, heating, and cooling equipment. In addition to the administration offices and standard classrooms, three science rooms were built with emergency washdown areas, epoxy resin countertops, gas turrets, and a fume hood. Interior finishes included acoustical ceilings, VCT, tile and carpet, and marker and tack boards throughout. The exterior was improved with a new retaining wall, ADA ramps, replaced curb and gutter and concrete crosspans, fencing, minor landscape work, and new asphalt paving.
