Scope Of Work
Phase I (2005):
As part of the University’s “Master Plan” for expansion of facilities and enrollment, Henry Bros. Co. was selected for the major renovations to this 124-year-old former Motherhouse. The facility houses the College of Nursing, conference rooms, general classrooms, and student housing
The 41,000 square foot facility was built in 1881 by the first Franciscan Sisters in Illinois.
The four-story structure was originally constructed using locally quarried limestone and features substantial walls, some in excess of eighteen inches
Phase II (2007):
University of St. Francis has purchased the historic Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate convent at 520 Plainfield Road in Joliet.
Built in 1881, the Motherhouse will become the "front door" of the University.
This building will become home to the College of Nursing and Allied Health, a health and wellness clinic open to the community, USF Solutions, a conferencing center, Admissions, Office of the President, Alumni and Development Department, and a second food service for the university.
In addition the Chapel on the third floor will be open to the community. The remaining portion of the building will consist of student housing.
