Scope Of Work
This three-phase project rehabilitated the existing wharf. During demolition in phase I, we reevaluated the condition of the existing structures and determined they were degraded beyond a repairable condition. We worked with design partners HDR to develop a plan to completely remove and replace the waterfront structural supporting beam to provide the outboard pre-cast decking support and act as one of two supporting tracks for the numerous container cranes utilized by JaxPort. Beam reconstruction included three stages of concrete pours, while incorporating the 9-in topping coat into stage two of construction. Final completion of the beam included a new 175-lb crane rail system on continuous sole plates. The new decking now provides support for an asphalt embedded railroad system that offers a twin-track system for loading and unloading of large-capacity container ships.
We built the project in three phases — fully completing each stage prior to advancing to the next — in order to maintain a fully operational facility during construction. This project also included installing Cathodic protection at the bulkhead, temporary mooring structures, and bracing to accommodate ongoing vessel operations. We also installed new crane tie-down foundations and structure, auxiliary crane power, utilities, and other incidental construction.
