Scope Of Work
The millwork package on this job was extremely unique due to the fact that virtually every piece of cabinetry is Trespa, including all drawer pieces, adjustable shelves and toe kicks. There was literally no wood product used in the manufacturing or installation process.
The project included 9 dorm rooms, consisting of a bed, desk, night stand and 3 lockers, a kitchen, 10 restrooms, an entertainment center and various storage units. One color was selected for all furniture in the dorm rooms. This job was especially interesting for the installation crew; all beds and lockers needed to be installed on the second floor of the building with no working elevator or outside access. The beds and lockers were specially designed in multiple pieces to accommodate this issue. The restroom cabinetry was constructed from Trespa and Corian counter tops with integral sinks. The entertainment center was designed for everyday wear and tear with a Trespa counter top. And finally, the kitchen was built from a wood grained Trespa print with granite counter tops.
165 sheets of 13mm x 6’ x 12’ and 45 sheets of 6mm x 6’ x 12’ Trespa panels were used in the manufacturing process. Approximately 18,500 stainless steel screws were used in assembly. That’s 53,310 pounds of material! It took 1,150 man hours to manufacture in the shop and 445 man hours to install over a 4 month time period.
