Scope Of Work
CGS provided foundation stabilization services at the Sapovits residence after an approximated 20 feet long section of the residence’s stone veneer collapsed during excavation. The owners were in the process of constructing a basement addition when the collapse occurred. CGS was recommended to repair the soil along the specific portion of the building perimeter.
Over the course of three days 17 permanent micropiles were installed utilizing ODEX drilling system along the proposed building perimeter. Each micropile had a 3.5 inch outside diameter and was drilled to a minimum depth of 25 feet. A temporary excavation support system was installed consisting of a double C-Channel whaler, three soil nail anchors of 25 to 30 feet depths, and shotcrete application. The soil nail and shotcrete processes provided the necessary support and the plan allowed for construction of the basement addition to continue.
The successful completion of the soil stabilization program was completed within nine days as quoted. CGS installed a total of 17 micropiles, whalers, three soil nail anchors, and applied shotcrete to the facing of the wall.
