Scope Of Work
The new LREMC North Center is a state of the art project applying today’s energy efficient technologies and renewable generation. In a nutshell, the center is an ‘energy positive” building which means it will produce more power than it consumes. The building has a 75KVA solar system on the roof of the building which produces 93,000 Kwh in a years time in a building that will use 80,000 Kwh per year, on nice sunny day the solar system will produce 3 times the peak load of the building which puts this excess power back to the grid.
LED lighting used inside and outside which operate at a fraction of the energy that fluorescent lights do with virtually zero environmental damage . LED lights are engineered to last as long as 100,000 hours and can save as much as 50% in energy savings compared to Fluorescent fixtures. Most all rooms are equipped with an occupancy sensor that will cut lights off and on when someone enters or leaves a room.
Other renewable features include:Solar water heater, Variable Refrigerant Flow technology mechanical system. The building uses a battery system that is capable of running the building at full load for about 8 hours that can be extended by load shedding which will cut off non-essential electrical items.
The New Electric Utility Operations Center is 7,630 SF office building, 4,960 SF truck parking with 6 open bays, and 3,150 SF warehouse. Designed and engineered to produce more energy than it consumes, this was the First Energy Positive Electric Utility Operations Facility in the Country. Energy sources include Geo-thermal heating & cooling, LED lighting, programmable breakers, and solar panels. The building faces north and features a lot of glass to capture the natural sunlight/daylighting.
