Scope Of Work
Products: Slate tile, Asphalt Shingles, Architectural Metal, and EPDM Membrane
Details: As entire neighborhoods were devastated by the 2010 Greater Springfield Tornado, this mansion sitting atop Springfield’s Maple Hill survived intact, but many exterior and interior elements were damaged beyond repair, including the roof. The damaged roof consisted of a combination of steep slate areas, EPDM membrane, asphalt shingles, as well as large ornamental cast iron ridge caps and flashings that had been destroyed. Before any interior restoration could proceed the mansion needed to be waterproofed. KLC’s ability to perform above and beyond on several different types of roof systems on one project was required.
KLC completely removed all of the roofs, all damaged flashings, ornamental details, and cast iron ridge details and installed new, historically accurate, materials that were fabricated to match the grandeur of the original period pieces. All the work was completed while the mansion was occupied by the owners and their collection of historic items.
