Steele Foundation LLC

Steele Foundation, LLC is a design/build foundation contractor specializing in engineered foundation construction. Founded in 1968 as Steele and Moroney, Inc., the company has successfully completed over 1400 projects, primarily in the Washington metropolitan area. In 1993, the firm's name changed to Steele Foundations, Inc. and in 2008 the firm’s name changed again to Steele Foundation, LLC.

Steele Foundation, LLC specializes in the design and construction of sheeting and underpinning. Sheeting and underpinning are vital elements of construction in urban areas. With limited space, excavation of basements and underground parking garages creates unique challenges with existing adjacent structures. Steel soldier beams and lagging walls, concrete piers, micropiles and soil/rock anchors provide the means to safely support these excavations.

While Steele Foundations’ specialty is sheeting and underpinning, it also designs and constructs shoring systems for facade preservation and structural modifications such as moving or strengthening columns and foundations. Additionally, we have installed soil nails for slope repair projects along tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.

Among the over 1440 projects the company has completed are many downtown office buildings, government buildings including The White House, U.S. Capitol Building, U.S. Supreme Court, Reagan National and Dulles Airports, Smithsonian Museums, Arlington National Cemetery, churches, hospitals, embassies, universities, and other classified structures.

The firm also maintains membership in the Deep Foundations Institute, ADSC: The International Association of Foundation Drilling, Washington Building Congress, American Subcontractors Association, and Associated Builders and Contractors.
