Scope Of Work
Wise Construction recently renovated the lecture hall located in the basement of William James Hall at Harvard University. Wise has completed several projects in the building originally built in 1963. Spaces renovated as part of the 8,000 square foot project included a lecture hall, two classrooms, support spaces, a student lounge and elevator lobby. The lecture hall upgrades included sound proofing, audio visual equipment and acoustical materials throughout the space. Located in the basement of the building, the lecture hall upgrades required infrastructure improvements including the installation of a handicap lift, concrete slabs and in fills and trench drains. In order to complete ceiling work which included demolition, MEPs and finishes we built a temporary platform to provide level staging and safe access to overhead work. We also installed teaching walls and built custom cloud radius soffits with specialty lighting. The building remained occupied and operational throughout the duration of the project requiring noise mitigation all times and off-hours work for certain construction activities.
