Scope Of Work
Providing the expertise, connections, and support that students need to become effective entrepreneurs, MIT’s Martin Trust Center is one of the largest research and teaching centers at MIT’s Sloan School of Management. Like most entrepreneurs, these students needed use of the space at all hours of the day, regardless of construction. Additionally, the adjacent spaces were occupied by other departments, including a filming studio, requiring all noisy work to be carefully coordinate. All this had to be completed on a tight 14-week timeline. Wise worked with the center’s leaders, providing extensive preconstruction planning and construction services to renovate and expand the first floor space. Work included a new HVAC system throughout the space, the creation of a prototyping lab, upgrades to open workspaces and offices, conference areas with state-of-the -art tel/data systems, a kitchenette, plumbing, fire alarm systems, high-end finishes, and intricate millwork. To keep the students in the space throughout construction, the team came up with a plan to build a temporary barrier wall throughout half the space. Wise completed the construction in that area, then moved users into the new space, and worked in the second half of the center. Once done, the barrier wall was removed and the areas were transformed into one cohesive space.
