Scope Of Work
Fulcrum was retained by Telcordia, a global leader in telecommunications services, to construct a Tier 3 disaster recovery data center for its Northeast operations. Work included critical power systems including in-line UPS and generator, data center cooling and environmental controls, security systems and interior finishes.
Challenges: The data center was constructed on the second floor of a five story mill building. The mill was the first to use concrete as a primary structural element, and they weren’t bashful about using a lot of it. Cooling infrastructure has to extend vertically to the roof through three floors of 24 inch thick concrete, while power has to drop to the basement and outside to the generator passing through the same floor construction twice. The floors above and below were fully occupied.
