Keizer, the neighbor to Salem. Located in Marion County, Oregon and the neighbor of Salem has plenty of history of its own. The City of Keizer was named after two brothers, Thomas Dove and Jon Brooks Keizur that were two pioneers that came to the area in the Wagon Train in 1843. The original community was close to the Willamette River. The name of Keizer came about due to a misspelling on the donation land claim records and was originally spelled Keizur. In 1861 is when the town suffered its first downfall during a flood. In the 1950s when dams were built is when the town began to grow because the river was now under some control to prevent flooding. In 1982 is when the residents voted to make Keizer a City.
