McMinnville Oregon is located in Yamhill County just northwest of Salem, the State's capital. The city of McMinnville was founded by the early Oregon Trail immigrant William T. Newby and he named the settlement after his hometown in Tennessee. The land where the city sits now was originally claimed by Newby in 1844 and was officially incorporated as a town in the year 1876 and became a city in 1882. McMinnville is home to Evergreen Air and Space museum that holds the world-famous Spruce Goose the world's largest wooden airplane. The central location in the world-famous wine country means that you can spend the day bouncing from winery to winery tasting all of the amazing local flavors that are internationally known.
