Scope Of Work

Clayco completed this high-rise residential student living building near the University of Illinois campus in Champaign, Illinois. The building consists of a four-story automatic parking system and 11 stories of four-bedroom suites, for a total of 526 beds. Features include a fitness center, retail shopping, a cafeteria, and a roof terrace with lounging and barbecuing space, and a hot tub.

Mezzanines convert each residence space to two levels, accommodating two bedrooms and bathrooms directly above another two bedrooms and bathrooms on the floor below. Each residential suite contains laundry areas, a full kitchen and living room. The exterior skin of the building, starting from level five and continuing to the roof, consists of a prefabricated second metal panel wall system with concrete bands and window infill units. The lower four levels consist of a prefabricated second metal wall system with curtainwall infill and concrete bands. The 300,000-square-foot housing facility received a  Gold Certification because of its energy conservation, environmentally friendly material purchasing and recycling, and a ride-share program.
