Scope Of Work
The house is designed to feel like a compound of structures that have been built over time, starting in the mid 1800s with a central stone house then added on to over the years as the family prospered and grew in size.
It is situated adjacent to a small lake and is surrounded by wetlands on a working cattle ranch called McCabe ranch. A small island with a fire pit was added to the lake with a connecting pedestrian bridge. The house was sited to take advantage of the lake and the stream flowing from it.
The 5,700-square-foot house features four bedrooms, four full and two half baths, a media room, guest master suite, a sitting room, two laundry rooms, a giant mud room, a large great room, a hearth room incorporated into the “original” stone silo and an office cabin. In addition to the house, the ranch also features a caretaker’s cottage, a horse barn, and an art cottage/studio. The landscaping utilizes indigenous plant life and minimized disruption to the natural landscape.
Primary materials used include reclaimed barn wood, reclaimed timbers, relocated barns, rusted corrugated metal roofs, slate roof, copper, cast iron hardware, and indigenous stone.
