Scope Of Work
This project for MUD consisted of installing 3,000 lineal feet of new 8” Ductile Iron water main 1-foot north and 1-foot deeper than the existing live main. This included 7 hydrants and 3 tie-ins to existing water mains. The primary challenge was finding a window to get 20’ long sticks of pipe between existing underground utilities (gas services, existing water services, existing water main, street power, storm sewer, and sanitary sewer services). The project was completed along an existing residential street within the first 12’ behind back of curb (utility right-of-way). Both new and existing mains were under the existing sidewalk and driveways with tree limbs/roots in the way to open cut. Most of the project was completed by auguring a hole and pushing pipe through the hole in 100-foot segments. After the new main was in service, the plumber disconnected house services from the old main and re-connected them to the new main.
