Scope Of Work
Ameristar Casino contracted with Hawkins to expand the vessel bow, adding 2000 SF of casino floor space. This involved installation of a new steel structural bulkhead and removal of the existing steel bulkhead. Work on the vessel required designing scaffolding to allow crews to work off the side of the vessel.
Noise control was an important aspect of this project for comfort of guests at the casino and hotel adjacent to the vessel; the casino remained open throughout construction. Challenges of this project included learning the jargon of the naval architect and adjusting construction methods for work on a floating structure (you cannot use a level on a boat!).
