Issue: Replace integral piping system with little or no production interruption

Problem: A volatile chemical piping system was in dire need of replacement. The chemical processing company could not afford to shut down the process to replace the system and also could not allow any hot work to be performed in the process area.

Alternatives: Keep running and carefully monitor the worn piping system and replace it upon failure or shut down to allow hot work.

Solution: Marshall’ supplementary maintenance staff on site did a thorough dimensioning of the existing piping. The information was sent to our fabrication shop where we pre-fabricated and radiographed the entire welded piping system off-site. The in house team then installed the pre-fabricated components in 1 shift without hot work.
