Scope Of Work
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
NIH NIAID facility is a 100,000-square-foot building housing laboratory space of animal research, radiology equipment, mechanical space, and waste-handling area. It includes BSL-2 and BSL-3 Laboratory suites and a suite of laboratories designed to operate at BSL-4 that will occupy a small portion of the building.
Specialized Engineering’s scope of services
Field Quality Control Services consisted of monitoring soil activities of structural fill, utility backfill, grading, inspection of drilled piers, concrete reinforcement, cast-in-place concrete, structural masonry, structural steel, metal decking, floor flatness, fireproofing, asphalt, and placement of concrete reinforcement for elevated slab pours.
Building Inspection Services consisted of working with contractors to ensure services were performed according to the planned schedule, observed and monitored compliance to requirements set forth in the construction documents and City codes and building codes, documented and communicated requirements and non-conformance issues.
Field Quality Assurance Services consisted of ensuring the project was built in accordance with the project plans and specifications prepared by the Army Corps of Engineers.
Laboratory Testing & Analysis were performed on structural fill, utility backfill, cast-in-place concrete, CMU masonry and grout, fireproofing density samples, and asphalt.
