AGUIRRE RODEN adapted an existing office building in downtown Dallas for reuse as a 130-room Homewod Suites Hotel. The building required total demolition of the interior including replacement of all glazing with new energy efficient thermal glazing panels. A design was also developed to cover the 1960’s era beige porcelain panels with new colored spandrel glass to match the upgraded appearance of the building. AGUIRRE RODEN’s design team developed a creative new curtain wall modification which enabled the reuse of the existing curtain wall without having to replace the entire wall system. This design solution was extremely cost efficient, saving millions while still providing a new, current look to the building. AGUIRRE RODEN worked closely with the owners to salvage and reuse key features of the original building, which dated back to 1918.
