A native of Fort Lauderdale, William O. Charland (Bill) is a founder
and President of Charland Rurey Construction, Inc. Bill graduated from
the University of Florida in 1987 with a Bachelors of Science (BSCE)
degree in Civil Engineering.
He has advanced elective courses in Steel Design, Geotechnical Design
and Urban Planning. Bill achieved his State of Florida General
Contractors license in 1990 and is LEED AP Certified from the Green
Building Institute.
Since 1988, Bill has constructed a wide variety of buildings,
including custom residential homes to institutional projects like the
South Florida Regional Transit Authority Tri-Rail Double Track
stations or commercial projects like the LEED silver certified Double
Tree Hotel Executive Meeting Center (EMC). His commitment to his
clients and staff is to focus on every detail from safety to the
highest quality of construction for each project.
Bill believes in making a positive impact with the community and is a
past or current board member in many local organizations such as
Broward Alliance for Neighborhood Development (BAND), the Boys and
Girls Club of Broward County Davie Unit, Ducks Unlimited Fort
Lauderdale Chapter, the African Safari Club, and the Alpha Epsilon
Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Housing Corporation.
Bill has also served on two governmental appointed boards subject to
Sunshine Law Ethics Standards. He served on the City of Wilton Manors
Planning and Zoning Board from 1996 – 2007 and was Chairman from 2001
– 2007. Bill was also a board member of the Broward County Unsafe
Structures Board from 2000 – 2006.
Bill is married to Veronika. He has two children, Olivia and
Nicholas. Bill is an avid sportsman, enjoying hunting, fishing,
mountaineering, hiking, golfing and winter sports.
