Project: Wagner College Commercial Restoration Exterior
Alpine, a commercial restoration company, was hired by Wagner College to restore the exterior of several historic buildings on campus. The buildings, which were over 100 years old, had brick surfaces that were experiencing moisture penetration and needed to be sealed. Alpine applied a clear penetrating sealer to the brick to prevent further moisture damage and also replaced the failing sealant around the windows.
They also applied high-performing coatings to the masonry surfaces for the first time to protect against water and improve the aesthetic appeal. The surface preparation for the project consisted of power washing to remove dirt and contaminants, as well as the removal of existing sealant prior to the installation of new sealant.
The project was completed on time and on budget, but the client's requests for flexibility in scheduling due to events on campus and concerns for safety around the aerial equipment added some unique challenges. However, Alpine was able to accommodate these requests and complete the work successfully. The project was in line with PCA standards, including P18 for documenting extra work and P22 for cleaning surfaces with pressurized water.
Overall, the restoration of the Wagner College buildings was a successful project that helped to protect and improve the appearance of the historic structures.
