Scope Of Work
Tucked along a picturesque hillside overlooking the calm azure waters
of Pacquereau Bay, Marriott's Frenchman's Cove is a breathtaking
complement to the beauty of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Adjacent
to Frenchman's Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach Resort this
spacious resort is reminiscent of a quaint village surrounded by a
secluded beach with amazing views of the Bay and St. Thomas harbor.
Like the nearby historic town of Charlotte Amalie, the overall design
reflects the Danish and British architectural influences set amidst a
colorful tropical landscape. The villas have been under construction
since June 6, 2008 continuing through January 31, 2012. Villas that have
been completed are now occupied with guests. You will notice additional
construction on our new building.
Because the location of Frenchman’s Cove is in such a remote
untouched area the workers are faced with unusual circumstances. The
buildings being constructed are located on the side of a cliff overlooking
Charlotte Amalie Harbor. The project site is very small with little
space to place material. The delivery of the desired materials must be
carefully coordinated to the site and then they are hoisted up by two
tower cranes and into the building. Employees also must be transported
to the project because of the lack of parking area. Due to the fact
that the previously completed buildings such as The Kid’s Club, Market
Place, and Spa borders the new construction site, The William R. Nash
VI, Inc. team is working carefully with the owner, management, and
other contractors as to not disrupt any activities or disturb the occupied
buildings and the guests.
Frenchman’s Cove Phases five and six and Buildings three and four are
a continuation of a multi-phase project beginning in 2005. William R.
Nash VI, Inc. began work again in May of 2008. Building three is a six
floor building containing twenty-nine, high end, two and three
bedrooms with fractional ownership units. Typical two bedroom units
include full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, two full baths with
Jacuzzi & Kohler tubs, central air conditioning and a full coverage
sprinkler system. Building three is scheduled for completion in June of
2009. Building four has four floors containing twenty of the same high
end fractional ownership units. The start date of Building four has not
been determined.
The Senior Project Manager of this project is Steve Presley, the Superintendent
is James Hodge and the HVAC Coordinator is Robert Brady.
Unlike many of WRN’s projects Frenchman’s Cove does not have a
General Contractor. Our contract is with Marriott Ownership Resorts
Inc. and Kraus-Manning is the owner’s representative and construction
management team.
