The Hospitals of Providence wanted to construct a new community hospital in Horizon City, a suburb of El Paso. Horizon City’s population has doubled over the last 15 years, making its growth rate much higher than the state or national averages. As the population has increased, so has the need for local healthcare services. Local residents had to travel at least 30 minutes to the nearest healthcare facility. So, Hospitals of Providence teamed with Emerus to create a micro hospital offering expanded services without the commute.
The two-story facility is a licensed hospital on the ground floor designed to provide the same health services as a larger hospital, including emergency care, inpatient services, and laboratory and imaging services, and a helipad. The hospital contains patient rooms, exam rooms, nurse stations, a food prep area, a pharmacy, a CT room, an X-ray room, ambulance entry, and an emergency room waiting area. The second floor was built as shell space for future patient rooms and medical office space.
Sierra Providence Hospital now offers the local community an affordable and convenient facility to care for its health needs.
