Scope Of Work
Benchmark selected Erland Construction and Bechtel Frank Erickson Architects to create a 55,000sf community designed to support both resident members and guest members as they age, with a focus on healthy minds. The team was tasked with renovating a 20,000sf, 5-story, 196-year-old building and constructing a 35,000sf addition to support the company’s new approach for this mind and memory care community. The existing building, known historically as Farwell Hall, was constructed in 1828. To meet today’s industry standards, modifications to Farwell Hall included lowering the ground floor slab on grade by 3’-0”, adding two new sets of stairs and an elevator, upgrading structural supports and seismic systems, installing new utilities and windows, and completely renovating the interior. The addition is a substantially steel structure with foundations, slab on grade, slab on deck, light gage metal roof trusses, vinyl windows, and Hardi siding.
