As President and COO for Thomas Construction Group, Chris Reid is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of the company’s day to day operations. Chris works to ensure that all projects stay focused on their short- and long-term goals of building a superior product for the best value. Chris works closely with the precon team providing detailed constructability, value engineering, sequence, risk assessment, and estimating review.
After graduating from Auburn University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Construction, Chris moved to Wilmington, NC to work for Miller Building Corporation as an Assistant Project Manager. In 1996, Chris accepted a Project Manager position for an international contractor, Beers Corporation (now Skanska Corporation) in Atlanta where he was later recruited to Ra-Lin & Associates in 1998.
Seven years later, the opportunity arose for Chris to fulfill his goal of running his own construction company and making Wilmington his home. In April 2005, Chris moved back to Wilmington and founded Thomas ConstructionGroup, LLC, where he holds his General Contractor’s Unlimited License in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Nevada. Additionally, Chris successfully completed his International Code Council (ICC) national contractor’s exam and is Thomas’ primary qualifier for Pikes Peak and Johnstown, Colorado, and College Station, TX.
Chris is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, is a Past President of the Cape Fear Museum Associates Board, and has served on the Board of Directors for the Greater Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and the Good Shepherd Center. Chris attends St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and lives in Wilmington with his wife Claire and their two sons.
