Scope Of Work
Over the years, a building’s usage had changed on an Air Force Base, and the old domestic water heating system was now proving to be an inefficient means for generating hot water. Kroeschell provided a turnkey solution that minimized downtime and increased the Base’s Energy Star rating.
Challenge
The original domestic hot water system in an Air Force Base building was generated and distributed by an atmospheric boiler and storage tank. Over the years, the building use had changed, and the old system was now proving to be an inefficient means for generating hot water given the reduction in hot water demand.
Solution
Minimizing Downtime
Kroeschell prefabricated a rack of ten A.O. Smith 199,000 BTU tankless condensing water heaters locally. The rack was then shipped to the Air Force Base where it was integrated into their existing domestic water distribution system.
The new system features:
Ultra-low NOx condensing technology
Continuous maximum flow rates up to 10.0 GPM
Energy Star Qualified
Built-in temperature controller and advanced diagnostics
The project was phased such that the existing boiler and storage tank were able to remain in use until the new system was up-and-running to alleviate any extensive hot water downtime at the building.
Results
This was a turnkey project for Kroeschell. We were responsible for the existing system evaluation, full specification and design of the new system, installation, and commissioning.
The system upgrades helped to increase the building’s overall Energy Star rating.
