Scope Of Work
University Chicago, Howard T. Ricketts Regional Biocontainment Laboratory (RBL) including interstitial floor is 48,100 square feet with 25,450 square feet research programming space. lab is one eight original RBL's funded by National Institute Allergies Infectious Diseases (NIAID) includes space, bio- level-two (BSL2) labs, bio--level-three (BSL3) labs, BSL2 BSL3 animal holding procedure rooms, plus support facilities.
has structural masonry walls combined with structural steel columns beams, on top concrete footings. design is slab on grade, with an interstitial floor above BSL-3 rooms, self enclosed mechanical roof top units. exterior is both face brick corrugated metal wall panels. Due to nature to be performed labs, there is a high level redundancy each its systems. Additionally, due nature location, access requirements were very strict all workers had to receive Department Argonne National Laboratory clearance.
