Scope Of Work

Following a feasibility study completed by Charlotte County Utilities, the Peace River Manasota Regional Water Supply Authority obtained financing support from SWFWMD and proceeded with the design and permitting of this 11-mile, 24" pipeline Regional Integrated Loop System that would connect the water supply systems of the PR/MRWSA, Charlotte County and the City of Punta Gorda.

The project includes a 7,400-foot section crossing the Peace River, as well as necessary waterline extensions to the intersection of Kings Highway and I-75 in Port Charlotte, and the Shell Creek Water Plant in Punta Gorda. Also in Punta Gorda, DMK designed an above ground storage tank, high service pumping, chemical adjustment and point of delivery meters. This system will provide a direct connection between the Peace River Plant, owned by the Peace River Authority and the City of Punta Gorda Shell Creek Water Plant, while providing a number of tie-in points into the Charlotte County transmission system.

DMK's survey department established horizontal and vertical controls for the 11 mile route, as well as performed a 100'wide, 7500' long bathymetric survey of the Peace River and a strip topographic survey of 11 miles of roads and open space in Pt. Charlotte and Punta Gorda.

Permitting involved practically every regulatory agency in the State of Florida as well as the US Corps of Engineers, EPA and the US Coast Guard.

Construction was completed in October of 2012 with DMK providing full Construction Engineering and Inspection services.
