Scope Of Work
Keauhou hotel sits Kona on west coast “Big Island” Hawaii. This Oceanside hotel was demolished so 23-acre can be repurposed into a cultural center community gathering space.
Kiewit’s contract for the hotel demolition included abatement, soft demolition, structural demolition, concrete crushing, earthwork landscaping. successfully abatement soft demolition late 2017. scope required our to follow strict procedures for enclosing space, then testing, removing disposing . bulk included structural demolition 253,000 SF hotel. This itself was challenging enough but to add to it, 30% was done over ocean with endangered turtles sunbathing nearby. challenges working over ocean are best demonstrated by fact that it took our five years to get permits place to even make this happen.
