Scope Of Work
For this project, E-Corp removed and replaced the curtain wall glazing and support structure at the FAA’s Salt Lake City Air Traffic Control Center (ARTCC). This facility is an active 24-hour radar facility for the FAA. During the curtain wall replacement, we removed asbestos insulation. In addition to replacing the curtain wall, renovations for this project included the following:
Modernization of the elevator
Structural modifications above ceiling to house all utilities and HVAC
New architectural, mechanical, and electrical modifications
Fire protection
Interior construction for a new air traffic control room
Heavy in-ceiling security grating, new walls, HVAC, electrical, fire sprinkler, intrusion detections system, and all finishes
Management and labor of an elevator replacement
Top level security clearances and protocol had to be upheld so as not to disturb the operations of the facility. The curtain wall had to be removed and replaced while the offices adjacent to the exterior of the building remained occupied. E-Corp’s stringent safety standards, risk management, and quality control led to this design-build project being completed safely, on time, and without disruption to working personnel or critical FAA missions. The renovations for this project also took place directly above the critical air traffic operating systems while the building remained fully occupied and occupational, requiring E-Corp to exercise extreme care and risk management during all construction activities.
