As a third-generation owner of the Roby Family of Companies, Trent grew up watching his grandfather and father build the Roby legacy and often jokes that he was raised in an Andrew Roby dump truck! He started his career with the company as a high school student in 1994 and worked as a laborer and carpenter through his high school and college days. After graduating from UNC Chapel Hill in 2000 with a BA in Economics, he returned to the family business full time as a Project Manager.
Today Trent serves as the President & CEO of the Roby Family of Companies. Under his leadership, the company has expanded its service offerings and geographic reach, both of which have contributed to the thriving 69-year-old business. The Roby Family of Companies includes Andrew Roby, Inc., Roby Services, Roby Commercial and Roby Realty.
Active in the industry, Trent is the immediate past president of the Home Builders Association (HBA) of Greater Charlotte and continues on its Board of Directors today. He is also a past president and current member of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) of Greater Charlotte and the Young Presidents' Organization (YPO). He also serves on the Board of Directors for Make-A-Wish® Central & Western NC and is the brains behind the company’s annual Pitchin’ for Wishes Cornhole Tourney that has raised over $1.6 million for the foundation and other local charities since its inception in 2008.
Concerned about future skilled employees for his industry, Trent enthusiastically accepted an invitation to join the Board of Directors of the Rebuilding Opportunities in Construction (The ROC) effort last year. A new joint venture of CMS, CPCC and Goodwill Industries, The ROC provides high school students with skills training, apprenticeships and mentors in the home building and construction industries.
