Scope Of Work

The New Albany Surgical Hospital project at 7333 Smith’s Mill Road, New Albany, Ohio, was completed in January 2011.  TP Mechanical installed and remodeled the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems.

The Mt. Carmel New Albany Hospital has a long-standing tradition of excellence. For seven years running, they have received the Summit Award from the national healthcare research firm, Press Ganey Associates, for “sustained excellence in patient care.” Building surgery and nursing additions furthered their value proposition as a leader in the healthcare field in their community.

The full expansion project will add an additional 18 beds including the surgery addition, bringing the total at the facility up to 60. The expansion also includes space for four future operating rooms, which will be completed and equipped as demand grows beyond the current eight operating rooms.

TP Mechanical was tasked with adding on to an existing surgical building and remodeling the HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems in the existing areas simultaneously. It was very important to make sure all employees and subcontractors were aware of their surroundings at all times to not interrupt any of the surgical or recovery activities of the patients and the staff. Our plans included conscious efforts to avoid disruptions at the occupied facility.

During the project, we utilized our fabrication shop to prefabricate hanger supports, lavatory drops and welded piping. By using prefabrication, were were able to build these items off-site and deliver them in time for installation. This not only helped create minimal interruption to the surgical staff and patients, but also helped to keep the job-site cleaner and safer.
