Scope Of Work
The original Fort McDowell Casino, a small bingo hall built in 1983, was gutted, remodeled and expanded by Sundt. The new casino opened in 1995 as the first constructed on Native American land.
The project included a bingo hall, 475 slot machines, 40 poker tables, a 100-seat keno , two kitchens, snack bar and cafeteria. The old facility was 40,000 square feet; the new included a 68,000-square-foot addition.
Because of the revenue generated, it was vital to allow maximum use of gaming areas. To accomplish this, Sundt installed temporary partitions to separate construction activities from the public. Partitioned areas and construction activities were sequenced to minimize the impact to gaming activities. These construction activities were performed overnight when gaming activities were negligible, requiring extensive coordination among security, owner management and subcontractors/suppliers.
