When originally installed in 1980, this tissue machine was driven by DC motors to precisely control the speed of rolls and dryers. This project replaced all 42 motors, ranging from 5 Hp to 500 Hp, with AC motors fed by variable frequency drives. General's work included modifying motor bases, installing new motors, installing new solid state drives, and installing cabling and controls. Careful planning along with maximizing pre-shutdown preparation allowed this critical machine to get back online with minimum downtime.
