Scope Of Work
The 121st Police Precinct will be comprised of a 65,200sf Structure located on a 130,600 sf lot. The building consists of offices for the respective divisions within NYPD, maintenance, clerical and storage areas and an adjoining detention building which contains holding cells, interview rooms and other offices. One of the primary architectural features of this building will be that the main buildings second story cantilevers 90 feet out toward the street.
The building structure as designed grows from one story at the high point of the site to 2 stories at the mid point of the site, where the ground floor is set partially into the grade. The exterior cladding of the main building form is stainless steel formed panels that provide a linear horizontal pattern of the building. Painted Aluminum ribbon windows are set into the wall at varying heights to respond to the light & view requirements of the spaces within. The 121st Police precinct is seeking LEED silver certification and will use 25 percent less energy and 30 percent less water than a comparable building. It will be the first police facility in New York to be LEED certified.
