Scope Of Work

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center is responsible for the study of land change and production of land change products used by researchers, resource managers, and policy makers around the world. EROS operates the Landsat satellite program with NASA, and maintains the largest civilian collection of images of the Earth’s land surface in existence. The data serves multiple user communities including first responders, wildfire, intelligence, agriculture, academia, and research.

KBR employees support the acquisition, archival, processing, and creation and distribution of the science products. Our major activities include operations and maintenance of the Landsat 1 – 8 satellite ground system, system engineering, and software development of the new Landsat 9, and future missions. The scope of our work involves analyzing Earth observation needs toward future satellite missions and providing all technical operations for the National Archive for Land Data.
